AKC Fetch Program
What is AKC Fetch?
Welcome to AKC Fetch! When dog owners are asked about activities they like to do with their dogs, the most common responses are to take their dog for a walk and to play ball (fetch) with the dog. Well now you can actually get a title for it! That's right! All you need to do is throw their favorite retrieve item (a ball, a bumper, a favorite toy) a minimum of 30 feet and have them return it to you!
AKC Fetch is designed for all breeds. Dogs who are at least 6 months of age are eligible to take the AKC Fetch test as long as they are registered or enrolled with AKC and have an AKC, PAL, or AKC Canine Partners number. Be sure to bring your number with you. We will have registration forms available so you can sign up to get a number if you don't have one.
AKC Fetch is a pass-fail noncompetitive test. The four levels of titles (Novice, Intermediate, Advanced, and Retriever) assess the ability of the dog to retrieve. For each of the four titles, the dog must pass the test twice under two different approved AKC Fetch judges. We will only be testing novices and intermediates.
The first test will be followed by a second test later that afternoon. By passing both tests you will be able to earn your title!
Entry fees are $5 (cash or check) and entries will be accepted on the day of the event (you do not need to pre-register-you can sign up at camp)
Fetch is another way to show off those great skills and the loving bond you share with your dog and get some special recognition for it!!
