Instructor Agreement 2021
Thank you so much for your interest in Wild Blue Dog Camp and support of Wild Blue Dogs. All proceeds from Wild Blue Dog Camp provide funding for treatment and research of canine cancer. We really do Play With Purpose.
Because what we do is so unique and we have been so blessed with incredible facilities, all staff, instructors, and campers must adhere to the following rules.
Absolutely NO VISITORS on the 4H campgrounds at any time. No spouses, friends, clients, guests of any kind. No Exceptions.
Sunday night Instructor’s dinner prior to camp is mandatory. 6pm - 8:00pm at the 4H facility. We need to make sure that everyone is focused on the same goals and that you have the right support to make your week fantastic! You are welcome to arrive early on Sunday for set up & to enjoy the facility.
Do not give the gate code to anyone. EVER.
NO FIRE. This includes candles, lanterns, or campfires. Lake Tahoe is an extremely fire sensitive, fragile environment. The 4H facility must get approval from the fire department for campfires.
Wild Blue Dogs supports only positive reinforcement training.
You are welcome to take videos and pictures while you are at camp. But if you will be videotaping classes, or making any promotional materials you need to include an intro and sign off using the Wild Blue Dog Camp name. For example, “this is Trina and we are coming to you live from Wild Blue Dog Camp! Or, “Thank you for joining us at “Wild Blue Dog Camp.” Both intro and exit must use the “Wild Blue Dog Camp” name. I am providing you with a one of a kind, private backdrop, campers and their dogs for demonstrations, and equipment and props and I am doing this in order to fight the number one killer of dogs-cancer. Please help me support this vital cause.
If you are planning to shoot any video or take any photos that will be used on social media or the internet & that may include other individuals you must provide your own photography release to Wild Blue Dogs in advance so that I can make sure the releases are signed prior to the start of camp and I have copies.
While on the 4H Facilities or at any Wild Blue Dog activity or event, please wear Wild Blue Dog Apparel. I can provide T shirts to you free of charge.
If you need something delivered or shipped to you, use my personal address in Lake Tahoe. Do not try to ship to the 4H facility. You are not to give the gate code out and we do not want delivery services on site with the dogs running around.
The 4H is a non-smoking facility. Respect parking signs & instructions & park only where designated.
You will be expected to be on time for your scheduled classes, in the assigned location. Any changes you need to make or want to request need to be discussed with the Camp Director so that the master schedule can be amended. We will be switching to an electronic schedule system so compliance is crucial.
3 Dogs per person. If you need to bring additional dogs I need to know, in advance.
If you are bringing an assistant I need to know this in advance and you will be expected to pay for their attendance, or other compensatory arrangements need to be made with Wild Blue Dogs.
Wild Blue Dogs is officially an on-leash dog camp with permission granted to be off leash in specific areas. Please respect this rule with your own dogs.
Class times generally run 1 hour & 15 minutes. To keep things flowing smoothly we ask that instructors start on time, teach for 1 hour or a few minutes more and then release campers so that they can get to their next class on time. Once we start running late it is like a train wreck.
Group discussion or lecture classes are usually unlimited in size and do not require campers to sign up. Working classes, complex material, or limited equipment classes will have sign up sheets for campers. This should keep your classes to manageable sizes and provide a good learning environment for campers. Please specify size limits on the classes you will be teaching. We will provide electronic sign up sheets.
Inappropriate behavior, campers or staff having difficulties, or other instructors requiring help should be immediately referred to me. Harsh remarks or calling someone out publicly is unacceptable. Saying nothing is also unacceptable. I can’t fix what I don’t know about.
Everyone needs to sign a limited liability release and provide proof of RABIES vaccination or titers for their dogs. We need to keep these in our records. Copies, photos, and emails are fine. You will also be required to sign photography releases (so we can take pictures of you and your dog), and a noncompetition, non-disclosure agreement. Without these 4 items, I can not admit you to ANY Wild Blue Dogs event.
No dogs will be allowed in the Picnic/Patio area while food is being served and during mealtimes.
If you need to travel to camp via airplane make sure the airline will allow your dog to travel in the passenger compartment with you. Many airlines will not fly live animals due to the dangerous heat in the southwest.
You will be expected to abide within the rules of the 4H facility. Park in delegated ares, respect the privacy of the property manager, his family, and his home. You ALWAYS need to be in control of your dog(s). This includes excessive barking or howling, reckless behavior and property damage.
You will be expected to clean up ANY mess your dog makes. Period. No excuses.
Lake Tahoe has a large and varied wildlife population. Be respectful of our wild neighbors and do not place either the wildlife or your dog at risk.
Wild Blue Dog Camp is not responsible for any injury, illness, accident, or misadventure occurring to either you or your dog at any location where Wild Blue Dogs is holding either formal or informal events, including casual encounters with friends or independent excursions. You will be expected to sign a limited liability release.
Wild Blue Dogs reserves the right to photograph all camp instructors, their dogs, activities at all Wild Blue Dog Camp sites and event locations. Photography will be used solely for the Wild Blue Dogs website, advertising, and social media. You will receive copies of many of the photographs taken and you are welcome to take your own photographs as well and share them on Facebook and social media platforms. #wildbluedogcamp #wildbluedogs.
