**Important Information for All Campers**
Why our Schedule is “Dynamic”
Wild Blue Dogs has a “fluid” or “dynamic” schedule because we want to make sure that campers get the most out of camp. This means we are responsive to schedule requests, weather conditions, and other situations that require us to change the schedule to accommodate these things. This gives you the opportunity to decide each day what you feel like doing the following day and to pursue those activities that you and your dog are enjoying the most.
Why we have Class Limits
Wild Blue Dog Camp limits class sizes because a class isn’t much fun if you never get a turn. We would rather add on another class and schedule you for a different day/time where you will get a turn in class and won’t just end up watching. If you are having problems getting a class you want please talk to Victoria, Megan or Angelo about getting help to get you into the class you need. Don’t suffer in silence!
This is your vacation and your dog’s vacation too! We want you to have maximum fun!
Experience Required
Classes requiring experience are more advanced level classes, where novice learners would not have the basic skills required to learn & enjoy the class. Basic foundation skills for each sport are necessary before proceeding to this level. Once campers have taken classes and have those skills, they may sign up for more advanced classes later in the week.
Instructor Consent Required
Some campers train their dog like crazy but don’t take classes or compete for titles. They may wish to join an advanced class and ask to demonstrate their abilities to the class instructor. If the instructor feels they are able to complete the class material successfully then they can join the class.
Off Leash Privileges
Wild Blue Dog Camp is an “on leash” event. Dogs may be given off-leash privileges to use in specified areas of the camp ground. To earn these privileges campers and their dog must demonstrate to the Camp Director (Victoria) an effective recall. If a camper/dog team passes, they will receive a colored zip tie to attach to their name tag or their leash (preferably the campers name tag so it is easily visible). No off-leash privileges are available until Wednesday afternoon. Each afternoon, just before and during Yappy Hour, Victoria will be available to evaluate your dog.
Signing up for Classes
Coaches will be available to help you choose your classes and get them scheduled. Based on the responses we received from the “TOP 5” memo, we have scheduled enough classes to accommodate everyone who has expressed an interest. If necessary we will add classes. This may result in some last minute changes to the schedule. The portal will open at 7pm each night for the following day’s classes.
Facility Rules
Both of our facilities are very precious to us. Please be respectful of them at all times. The 4H Campground is a smoke free facility. Please do not smoke anywhere on the grounds except the privacy of the inside of your own car. Fires, cooking in the cabins, candles, littering of any kind or rough use of the facilities is unacceptable. Please be mindful of this, and remind other campers to be as well. Let us know if you have any issues and we will address them.
Unsportsman like Conduct
Wild Blue Dog Camp is a place like any other party place and you are one of the guests. You and your dog should be using your party manners at all times. Courtesy is always the rule of the day. Be nice to each other, your dog, the 4H staff, and the Beach Retreat staff!
Be Patient with your Dog
Wild Blue Dog Camp is an extreme environment for your dog. It may take them some time & space to adjust to it. Let them have it. You are on the other end of the leash and should be communicating acceptance and calm. Don’t allow yourself to get frustrated when your dog doesn’t catch onto something right away. It’s their vacation too and patience always pays off. Remember your dog wants to please you.

Take the Damn Picture!
How to get your dog to stay in place and look at the camera! You’ll need that backscratcher and silicon circle which you received in your camper’s swag bag. You will also need soft treats that will stick on a fork. Let’s say cheese, or soft treats. White cheese works probably the best, but that depends on your dog’s preference. First, we will work on teaching your dog to sit on a mark (provided in your camper swag bag) and stay there! Next we will work on teaching your dog to follow a treat on a extendable back scratcher (provided in your camper swag bag).
